A Van Buren County resident has claimed a $5.46 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery. The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, matched all six numbers drawn on April 23: 13-25-30-35-38-46. The winning ticket was purchased at a Speedway gas station in Kalamazoo.

The 43-year-old winner shared his excitement about the unexpected win, stating, “I play Lotto 47 every once in a while and decided to buy a few tickets on a whim.” He recounted telling his family that the jackpot money would be his after noticing it had surpassed $5 million.

Upon confirming his win by checking the numbers online, he expressed disbelief and exhilaration. "Once I was sure I’d really won the jackpot, I ran out the door and down the street because I was so excited!" he said. His daughter informed her mother of their good fortune with: "I think dad just won the Lottery!"

Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli extended her congratulations to both the winner and the retailer who sold the ticket. “Congratulations to the lucky player on his $5.46 million Lotto 47 jackpot win! It is great to hear that this prize is going to have a positive impact on the winner and his family,” she stated. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The winner opted for annual payments of approximately $182,000 over 30 years instead of a one-time lump sum payment of $3.7 million. He plans to use his winnings to support his family.

Lotto 47 offers players an opportunity to win jackpots starting at $1 million by selecting six numbers from one to 47 for each $1 play. Additional options such as Double Play and EZMatch can be added for more chances to win additional prizes.
