Yesterday, Trentin McWilliams, a 23-year-old from Norway, Michigan, who had recently been residing in California, entered pleas related to multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that McWilliams pled no contest to Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for an incident involving a child at a relative's home in 2018. Additionally, he pled guilty to two counts of Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for an assault on a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in October 2022.

McWilliams was brought back to Dickinson County in September 2024 by the U.S. Marshals Service under Operation Survivor Justice. This operation received funding last year through a $1 million state appropriation and is a collaborative effort between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Its aim is to locate and return fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants to Michigan.

"This Operation Survivor Justice conviction is a powerful example of what this partnership can accomplish," said Nessel. "Through our work with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, we were able to deliver accountability and a measure of justice to the two courageous individuals who came forward."

McWilliams' sentencing is set for July 7th at 9:30 am in the 41st Circuit Court in Dickinson County.
