Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, along with the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force consisting of 51 attorneys general, has issued warnings to nine voice service providers regarding potentially unlawful robocall activities. The communications suggest that these companies might have breached state and federal regulations by permitting illegal robocalls within their networks. The notices include detailed findings from the task force's analysis of illicit call traffic.
Nessel emphasized the responsibility of voice service providers, stating: “Voice service providers play a critical role in keeping illegal robocalls off their networks, and that includes ensuring they do not transmit these persistent and intrusive calls.” She affirmed her commitment to collaborate with the task force to shield consumers and ensure accountability for non-compliant providers.
The warnings also involve cooperation with federal law enforcement, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to address the issue.
