Fraaza earns sixth woman honor; Weisbrod and Newcomer receive All-GLIAC recognition

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its women's basketball awards, highlighting outstanding performances from Northern Michigan University players. Abi Fraaza was named the Sixth Woman of the Year, while Jacy Weisbrod and Sarah Newcomer earned All-GLIAC accolades.

Abi Fraaza, a senior from Birnamwood, Wisconsin, was recognized as the top reserve in the conference. Throughout the regular season, she played in 15 games off the bench for Northern Michigan, averaging 8.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Her shooting efficiency stood out with a field goal percentage of 65.3%, although she did not meet the minimum requirements to lead the GLIAC in this category. At the free throw line, she converted 77.8% of her attempts. In her final three regular season games, Fraaza averaged 15.7 points and shot an impressive 76.9% from the field.

Jacy Weisbrod received First Team All-GLIAC honors after being on the Second Team last year. The junior from La Crosse, Wisconsin ranked tenth in scoring within the conference with an average of 13.6 points per game and demonstrated proficiency beyond the arc by making 2.8 three-pointers per game, placing her ninth nationally.

Sarah Newcomer made her debut on an All-GLIAC team by securing a spot on the Second Team. The junior from Pewaukee, Wisconsin averaged 9.3 points along with notable contributions in other areas such as rebounds and assists throughout the season.
