Pietila and Kastamo honored with GLIAC Commissioner's Awards

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the recipients of its Fall 2024 Commissioner's Awards. Brooke Pietila from Northern Michigan University and Hannah Kastamo have been recognized for their achievements.

Brooke Pietila, a standout player in Northern Michigan's soccer program, received the GLIAC Commissioner's Award for the second consecutive year. Her accomplishments this season include being named the 2024 GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, earning three All-America honors, and receiving multiple regional and conference team selections. Pietila finished her career as a leader in several categories including career assists and games played.

Hannah Kastamo earned her first GLIAC Commissioner's Award after an impressive season where she transitioned from forward to defender. Her accolades include being named GLIAC Defender of the Year and receiving two All-America honors along with other regional and conference recognitions. During the 2024 season, Kastamo contributed significantly with game-winning goals and ranked among top scorers as a defender.

The awards recognize six female and six male student-athletes who excel academically and athletically during fall, winter, and spring seasons. Grade-point averages are calculated on a 4.0 scale.
