The Northern Michigan women's wrestling team is set to host duals against UW-Oshkosh this weekend. The Wildcats will make their debut at Vandament Arena on Sunday, February 2, at 2 p.m. This event is free to attend, and fans are encouraged to support the team. For those unable to attend in person, the duals will be available for live streaming on FloWrestling.

In their last outing at the Alma College Open on January 19, Northern Michigan had a strong performance with four first-place finishes and four runner-up placements. Yu Sakamoto and Sara Schroder faced each other in the championship round of the 117 weight class, with Sakamoto emerging victorious. Zhivanna Magdaleno secured a runner-up finish in the 124 weight class, while Alissa Caltagirone took first place at 145. Sophia Bassino claimed third place in the 160 weight class, and Ruby Joseph also recorded a victory. Clarissa Wangen achieved a decisive win in the 180 weight class, with Mickaela Keane finishing second. In the 207 weight class, Kailyn Garrett took first place, Ozioma Ogu finished second, and Teni Ajayi came in fourth.
Yu Sakamoto is ranked 12th nationally in the 117 weight class by The Open Mat and earned a world champion title at the U23 World Championships in Albania last October. Alissa Caltagirone is ranked 14th in the 145 weight class, while Sophia Bassino ranks 20th in the 160 weight class.
Northern Michigan University has ten regional top-5 finishes in its history, with Diana Dzasezava winning in 2023. The program has produced two All-Americans and twelve Scholar All-Americans over its three-year history.
