The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's hockey team is gearing up for a home-and-home series against its Upper Peninsula rival, Michigan Tech. The Wildcats will face the Huskies on Friday at the John Macinnes Student Ice Arena and again on Saturday at the Berry Events Center. Both games will be broadcasted on FoxUP and available for streaming on Midco Sports Plus.

Saturday's game encourages fans to participate in a "White Out" event by wearing white to support NMU. After the game, fans are invited to attend the third 4th Period Party of the season hosted by Slabz Bar and Grill.

Ryan Ouellette, NMU's goaltender, has been nominated for this year's Hobey Baker award, given annually to college hockey's top player. Fan voting runs from January 22 until March 9.

The Wildcats recently swept Bemidji State last weekend with victories of 4-1 and 3-1. Ouellette was recognized as CCHA netminder of the week after his performance in these games. Freshman Jakub Altrichter also earned CCHA freshman of the week honors.

In their last four games, NMU holds a record of 3-1-0, with significant contributions from players like Ryan Duguay and Tynan Ewart.

This upcoming series marks the third time NMU and Michigan Tech have faced each other this season. The Huskies have won three consecutive matches against NMU since February 2024. Key players for both teams have shown strong performances throughout their meetings this season.

Michigan Tech enters this series having won two out of their last four games, both by a scoreline of 1-0. Goalie Ryan Manzella has delivered impressive performances during this period with two shutouts in three appearances.
