Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has expressed serious concerns about the executive orders signed by President Trump on his first day in office. In a statement, Nessel highlighted potential legal issues with these orders.

"I have grave concerns regarding many of the proposed actions President Trump, and those who have been nominated to serve in his administration, have publicly promoted," Nessel stated. She indicated that these actions might breach the United States Constitution, the Administrative Procedures Act, and other federal laws and standards. Her department is currently reviewing each executive order issued by President Trump.

Nessel specifically addressed an executive order related to birthright citizenship. "The executive order undermining the constitutional amendment providing birthright citizenship to those born in our nation is an affront to the U.S. Constitution," she said. Nessel is collaborating with colleagues to find a suitable legal response. She emphasized that while the President can issue orders for federal agencies' operations, he cannot take unconstitutional actions against American citizens.
