Tracie Green, a 64-year-old resident of South Lyon, has been arraigned in the 52-1 District Court in Novi. She faces charges for allegedly embezzling over $200,000 from a vulnerable adult. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the charges, which include two counts of Embezzlement From a Vulnerable Adult $50,000 Or More But Less Than $100,000 and one count of Embezzlement From a Vulnerable Adult $100,000 Or More.
Green was reportedly a family friend of the victim and offered assistance as the victim experienced cognitive decline. Allegations suggest that Green attempted to add herself to the victim’s condo interest in South Lyon and facilitated changes to investment accounts in 2018 and 2020. These changes would have allowed her to inherit half of the accounts' value, exceeding $400,000 upon the victim's death in 2021.
“It’s both baffling and reprehensible that people, especially those trusted by the victims and their families, take advantage of vulnerable members of our community for their own personal gain,” Nessel stated. “Our seniors deserve protection from such predatory behavior, and my department remains committed to holding accountable those who prey on vulnerable adults.”
Green received a $50,000 personal recognizance bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 18 at 9 a.m., where she will attend a Probable Cause Conference before Judge David Law.
The public is reminded that criminal charges are merely allegations at this stage. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The Department does not provide booking photos.
