Brooke Pietila and Hannah Kastamo earn D2CCA First Team All-American honors

NMU women's soccer players Brooke Pietila and Hannah Kastamo have been named D2CCA First Team All-Americans, as announced by the Division Two Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA). This recognition marks a first for NMU in this category and makes them the sixth and seventh All-Americans in NMU soccer history.

Pietila received her accolade as a midfielder, while Kastamo was honored as a defender. They are the only two athletes from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to make any of the teams.

Pietila's final season was notable, earning her multiple awards including GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, All-GLIAC First Team, GLIAC All-Tournament Team, and D2CCA First-Team All-Region. She also became NMU's all-time leader in career assists with 30, among other records.

Kastamo had an impressive year as well, advancing from an All-GLIAC Honorable Mention to a D2CCA First Team All-American. Her achievements include GLIAC Defender of the Year and several other honors.

Both players qualified for All-America status after being selected for the D2CCA All-Region first team.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association supports Division II athletics and promotes high standards of sportsmanship within higher education. The CCA serves as a communication link among conferences on issues affecting Division II athletics and collaborates closely with the NCAA.
