Trailing 39-36 in the second half, Sarah Newcomer made three consecutive three-pointers within 54 seconds, contributing to a decisive 14-0 run that led the Northern Michigan women's basketball team to a 63-52 victory over St. Cloud State on Sunday afternoon.

Newcomer delivered an impressive performance, tying her career-high with six three-pointers out of eight attempts, scoring a season-high and game-high of 22 points. She also led all players with five assists and added four rebounds and two steals.

Alyssa Nimz continued her strong form from the previous day by adding 16 points and nine rebounds. Jacy Weisbrod also scored in double figures with twelve points, including four three-pointers.

The Wildcats shot 41.1% from the field compared to the Huskies' 36.8%. Northern excelled in long-range shooting with a success rate of 44.4%, while holding St. Cloud State to just 28.6%. NMU forced SCSU into committing 17 turnovers, with five Wildcats accounting for a season-high eight steals despite St. Cloud's advantage on rebounds at 41-31.

St. Cloud started strong with an eight-point lead after making their first three shots but Northern responded by scoring seven straight points despite shooting only 23.5% in the first quarter, ending it trailing by three at 12-9.

Northern improved their shooting significantly for the rest of the game, achieving nearly a 50% success rate over the last three quarters.

In the second quarter, Northern hit four triples and took a narrow lead of 27-24 at halftime after forcing St. Cloud into thirteen turnovers during the first half.

St. Cloud managed to score seven consecutive points early in the second half to lead by five before NMU turned things around with Newcomer's key contributions and Nimz's additional basket for a commanding twelve-point run before entering the fourth quarter leading by eleven.

Nimz extended this momentum into the final quarter as she scored again to complete fourteen unanswered points giving Northern a significant advantage at that stage of play which they maintained through effective defense until securing victory on away ground against previously undefeated opponents improving their record further extending it now standing unbeaten having achieved six wins without loss so far this season whilst inflicting upon hosts defeat marking theirs only suffered thus far leaving them standing now currently recorded standing just one defeat against prior total wins
