Nmu swim teams head to Detroit for competition against Wayne State and Findlay

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's and women's swim and dive teams are set to compete in a one-day meet this weekend. The teams will travel to Detroit to face Wayne State University and the University of Findlay on Saturday, November 9.

The competition is scheduled to begin at 10 AM at the Matthaei Natatorium on Wayne State's campus. In national rankings, NMU's women's team holds the 12th position, while the men's team is ranked 17th. Findlay's women's team is ranked 10th, with Wayne State positioned at 37th. On the men's side, Findlay ranks 21st and Wayne State sits at 25th.

In their previous outings, NMU faced Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) on October 25. The men's team lost with a score of 98-143 but saw Ian Rocheleau secure first place in both the 25-yard and 75-yard backstroke events. The women's team achieved a dominant victory over SVSU with a score of 162-76.

On October 26, NMU competed against Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and SVSU. The men's team defeated SVSU with a score of 164.50-130.50 but lost to GVSU with a score of 94-202. Notable performances included pool records set by the 200-yard medley relay team, Wyatt Dickman in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team.

The women's team won against SVSU with a score of 232-68 but was defeated by GVSU with a score of 127.50-172.50. Record-breaking performances were delivered by the women's relay teams as well as individual swimmers Camilla Carbone in backstroke events and Zoe DeKievit in breaststroke events.
