NMU volleyball team prepares for tough matches against Ferris State and Davenport

Northern Michigan University's volleyball team is preparing for a challenging weekend as they travel to face Ferris State and Davenport. The Wildcats recently achieved a successful sweep in matches against Michigan Tech, Purdue Northwest, and Parkside, as well as securing multiple GLIAC weekly honors. Liesl Haugen was named Defensive Player of the Week, Jacqueline Smith received Offensive Player of the Week, and Allie Barlow earned Setter of the Week.

The Wildcats have two weekends remaining in their regular season schedule before entering postseason play. They will face Ferris State on Friday at 5:00 p.m., followed by a match against Davenport on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Team captain Jacqueline Smith has been a standout performer with 62 kills over three wins last week. She ranks fourth nationally among active players in career kills with 1,792 and leads the conference this season with 356 kills. Her performance against Michigan Tech included a career-high 28 kills and 19 digs.

Allie Barlow has been recognized for her setting skills, recording 147 assists over three matches and leading the GLIAC with 943 assists this season. Liesl Haugen contributed significantly with a career-best 31 digs against Michigan Tech.

Ferris State remains undefeated this season with a record of 24-0 and leads several statistical categories in the conference. Senior Olivia Henneman-Dallape spearheads their attack with 342 kills this season.

Davenport holds a record of 9-15 overall and is led by Abby Alan and Mehl Hansen in offensive contributions.
