NMU women's swim team triumphs over SVSU Cardinals at home meet

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's swim and dive team achieved a decisive victory against the Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) Cardinals in their first home meet of the 2024/25 season. The event took place at the PEIF Pool in Marquette, Michigan, with NMU securing a 162-76 win.

Elena Curti delivered an impressive performance by winning all three of her events: the 75-yard butterfly, 75-yard freestyle, and participating in the victorious 125-yard freestyle relay.

Camilla Carbone also had a successful meet, finishing first in both the 25-yard backstroke and the 75-yard backstroke events.

Kalina Ceglinski excelled on the diving boards, claiming first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions.

Becca Burrows won the 25-yard freestyle and was part of the winning team for the 125-yard freestyle relay. Other individual victories included Annika Geyer in the 175-yard freestyle, Evelyn DeCarlo in the 25-yard breaststroke, Zoe DeKievit in the 75-yard breaststroke, and Ella Houwers in the 125-yard individual medley.

The successful relay team for the 125-yard free relay comprised Vicky Burda, Mia Strazny, Carlotta Santi, Burrows, and Curti.

Following this win, NMU is preparing for a dual meet with Grand Valley State University and SVSU scheduled for tomorrow morning.
