Three wrestlers from Northern Michigan University took part in the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, over the weekend. The team secured four victories during the competition.
In the 143-pound weight class, Alissa Caltagirone achieved a record of two wins and two losses. She secured victories by fall against Alessandra Elliott and Saniyah Ward, both from D'Youville College, with times of 5:06 and 2:39 respectively. Her efforts contributed to NMU's total pins with a combined time of 7:45.
Marisa Angelos also competed in the 143-pound category, where she won by decision against Autumn Flanigan from Augsburg University with a score of 4-2. Zhivanna Magdaleno represented NMU in the 123-pound weight class and claimed victory by decision over Jada Fowler from Frostburg State, finishing with an 8-5 score.
The team earned six points overall, placing them at 28th out of 49 teams participating. Iowa topped the standings with a total of 204 points, followed closely by North Central with 198 points.
