Wildcats head to Long Beach for two major track meets

A dozen athletes from the Northern Michigan University Track & Field team have traveled to Long Beach, California, for two track meets. The Pacific Coast Invitational is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, and the Beach Invitational will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13. Both events are hosted by Long Beach State University.

The athletes participating in these competitions include Crystal Walker, Ellyse Wolfrath, Ahna Larson, Jahtivya Williams, Sofi Diop, Skylar Grubb, Madi Szymanski, Gianna Hoving, Beverly Harper, Baux Truckey, Natalie Pisoke, and Lamar Gordon.

Previously, Northern Michigan competed at the Spartan Invite where they achieved notable success. The Wildcats secured a total of twelve top-five finishes during the event. In particular, they excelled in the 4x400m relay with Ellyse Wolfrath, Jahtivya Williams, Crystal Walker, and Baux Truckey achieving first place with a time of 48.23 seconds. Additionally, Walker triumphed in the long jump event with a distance of 5.66 meters.

Northern also performed well in other events; Baux Truckey finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.54 seconds while Ellyse Wolfrath placed second in the 100m hurdles clocking in at 15.49 seconds.
