NMU swimmers break records and earn All-American honors at NCAA Championships

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's swim and dive team concluded their participation in the NCAA Championships on the fourth day of competition in Geneva, Ohio. Two athletes from the team achieved significant milestones by breaking school records and earning All-American honors.

The NMU women are currently positioned 16th out of 59 teams, with a total of 59 points. They trail behind Clarion, which has accumulated 63 points, but lead Grand Valley, which has 50 points.

In the final session, Camilla Carbone competed in the 100 Back event and secured seventh place with a time of 55.03 seconds. Her performance earned her First-Team All-American honors.

Meritxell Font Cantarero also competed, setting a new school record and achieving Second-Team All-American honors with an 11th-place finish in the finals. She completed her event with a time of 2:01.52.

The competition will conclude with events including the 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke,1650 freestyle, 1-meter diving, and the 400 freestyle relay.
