Northern Michigan track & field achieves personal records at Pacific Coast Invitational

The Northern Michigan Track & Field team participated in the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, California, on Thursday. The event saw several athletes from the team achieve personal records and notable performances.

In the 1500m race, Gianna Hoving finished first with a time of 4:33.27, narrowly beating teammate Madi Szymanski's 4:33.50. Both athletes achieved personal records despite limited sleep and warm-up time. Their times are now among the top five in program history for this event.

Skylar Grubb won the 5000m race with a time of 17:57.88.

In the 800m, Beverly Harper clocked a personal record of 2:17.34, while Lamar Gordon also set a personal best with a time of 2:19.14, both finishing within the top 20.

In the 100m dash, Baux Truckey recorded a personal best of 12.14 seconds, followed by Jahtivya Williams at 12.35 seconds.

Ellyse Wolfrath competed in the 100m hurdles and finished in 14.20 seconds, securing the 22nd position out of over eighty participants. Crystal Walker completed her run at 14.67 seconds and Sofi Diop at 14.97 seconds.

Walker and Diop also participated in the long jump event, achieving distances of 5.79 meters and 5.43 meters respectively.

Natalie Pisoke ran the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.74, marking another personal record for her, while Ahna Larson completed it in 1:05.49.

The team will continue their stay in Long Beach to compete in the Beach Invitational starting April 12th and concluding on April 13th.
