Women's lacrosse faces Concordia in final regular-season game

The Northern Michigan women's lacrosse team is preparing for its final game of the regular season against Concordia University - St. Paul Golden Bears. The match is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Currently, the Wildcats have an overall record of 12-4 and a conference play record of 3-2. They are positioned second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as they approach the conference tournament.

Key players for Northern Michigan include senior Minnie Bittell, who leads in scoring within the GLIAC with 63 goals, 27 assists, and 90 points. She is nearing personal milestones, needing just two more points to reach 300 career points and ten more for a hundred points this season.

Freshman Josie Lakosky ranks third in goals and overall points in the GLIAC with 38 goals, 12 assists, totaling 50 points. Senior Kaitlyn Bridger has secured the third-highest points for her team with 31 goals, 13 assists (44 points), and has achieved 60 draw controls this season. She is five goals away from reaching a hundred career goals.

Sophomore Laine Stanton had a standout performance earlier this season against Concordia by scoring four goals in a single game.

Concordia University stands fourth in the GLIAC with an overall record of 6-10 and a conference record of 1-4. They recently lost to Davenport Panthers with a score of 9-12. Freshman goalkeeper Marge Lucio leads the GLIAC in saves with 124, while sophomore Susie Monson is their top scorer with 56 total points (37 goals, 19 assists) and has achieved 84 draw controls this season.

Earlier this year, Northern Michigan defeated Concordia with a decisive score of 21-12 and now aims to conclude their regular season on a high note.
