The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team faced a narrow defeat against the Parkside Rangers, losing 1-0 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The decisive goal came in the 80th minute when Lars Popp headed in from a corner kick.

Despite generating several opportunities, NMU could not convert any of their five shots on target out of 11 attempts. Isaac Ward and Logan Lazar were denied crucial chances late in the second half before Parkside secured their lead.

Following this match, NMU's record stands at 2-5-1 overall and 1-3 in the GLIAC, while Parkside improved to 4-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference.

Head Coach Alex Fatovic expressed his sentiments after the game: "Absolutely gutted for the boys. They gave everything they had today and deserved more out of that match. I'm very proud of this group of guys despite the tough stretch we are in. We left Parkside with our heads up and ready for the next test. It's not going to get any easier, but I have full faith our boys will start turning these results in our favor."

In terms of performance highlights, Jan Hoffmann led NMU with three shots. Goalkeeper Florian Palmowski made five saves from 18 shots faced by Parkside. Kalvin Glodz, Niko Scheibal, and Finn van den Berg each played ninety minutes.

NMU recorded a total of eleven shots compared to eighteen by Parkside; however, both teams had moments where fouls affected play—Parkside committed fifteen fouls versus twelve by NMU.

The Wildcats will continue their road trip with an upcoming non-conference match against UW-Eau Claire on Thursday, September 28.
