Northern Michigan University's cross country team achieved a fourth-place finish at the GLIAC Championships in Houghton, Michigan. Sophomore Madi Szymanski secured an 8th place finish individually, earning her First Team All-GLIAC honors. Freshman Ava Maginity also received recognition by making it to the All-GLIAC Second Team.

Szymanski was the top finisher for Northern Michigan, clocking in at 21:38.0, marking her second-best 6K performance. This achievement is noted as the best for a Green and Gold runner at the conference championships since 2017. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-GLIAC First Team.

In her debut GLIAC Championship, freshman Ava Maginity impressed by finishing 19th with a personal best time of 22:30.3, improving her previous best by 25 seconds.

Other notable performances came from Gianna Hoving who finished in 24th place with a time of 22:50.4 and Skylar Grubb who placed 27th with a time of 22:57.1. Emma Moore rounded out the top-five scoring Wildcats by placing 30th with a time of 23:01.9; all these were personal records.

Dani VanLente and Lamar Gordon both finished within the top-50 for Northern Michigan with times of 23:17.7 and 23:18.2 respectively.

The team accumulated a total of 108 points, narrowly missing third place held by Saginaw Valley which had 101 points. Grand Valley State won with just 15 points while Wayne State took second place with 78 points. GVSU's Natalie Graber led individually finishing under twenty-one minutes at 20:58.7.

The NCAA Midwest Regional Championship is scheduled for November 4th in Evansville, Indiana.
