Day one of the 2024 NCAA Central Regional Skiing Championship concluded in Houghton, Michigan. Luke Fricker from Northern Michigan University secured second place in the 7.5km freestyle event. Fricker finished with a time of 16:16.8, trailing behind Skylar Patten from Michigan Tech, who clocked in at 15:47.7 on his home course.
Kristoffer Karsrud was the next Northern Michigan skier to finish, securing sixth place with a time of 16:54.8. Mathias Haugen followed in ninth position with a time of 17:04.3.
Jonathan Clarke narrowly missed the top ten, finishing with a time of 17:15.7. Hendrik Peterson and Cooper Lennox completed their races in 19th and 21st places, respectively.
In terms of team standings after day one for men:
- Michigan Tech University (MTU) leads with a score of 55.
- Northern Michigan University (NMU) follows with a score of 47.
- College of St. Scholastica (CSS) stands at third place with a score of 27.
- University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) holds fourth place with a score of 21.
