The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team faced a setback on their road trip, falling 2-0 to the St. Cloud State Huskies in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Despite a strong offensive effort, outshooting their opponents 20-13 with eight shots on target compared to the Huskies' six, the Wildcats were unable to convert these chances into goals.

The match saw the Wildcats drop to a record of 2-7-1 overall and 1-4 in the GLIAC conference. In contrast, the Huskies improved their standing to 2-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the GLIAC.

Head coach Alex Fatovic expressed his disappointment following the match: "Obviously very disappointed in the result, but again our boys are playing well and putting in massive efforts. We had great minutes off the bench and I'm proud of the way we continue to fight through all the adversity."

Despite their efforts, including four shots on goal by Fernando Abascal and four saves by goalkeeper Florian Palmowski, NMU could not break through St. Cloud's defense. The Wildcats' opportunities included several near misses from players like Isaac Ward and Jaziel Sainz de Vilmorin.

St. Cloud took an early lead with Owen Worsdell's goal after a run down the left side in the first half. The Wildcats pressed hard for an equalizer throughout both halves but were thwarted by solid defensive play from St. Cloud.

As time wound down, any hopes of leveling were dashed when St. Cloud scored their second goal with just 17 seconds remaining.

Looking ahead, NMU will return home for a rematch against Parkside on Friday, October 6 at 3 p.m., where they hope to bounce back from this defeat.
