NMU athletics prepares for a packed weekend of competitions

Northern Michigan University (NMU) athletics has a busy weekend ahead from April 5 to April 7, with several teams competing in various events.

The women's lacrosse team is set to face Grand Valley State on Friday and Davenport on Sunday. The team recently returned from Ohio, where they secured victories against Walsh and Ashland, improving their overall record to 9-2.

The men's golf team will participate in the Lewis Flyer Spring Invite after achieving a first-place finish at the Klash in Kentucky. Russel Sprecher led the team with impressive scores, narrowly beating his teammate Arthur Ylitalo.

Similarly, the women's golf team will also compete at the Lewis Flyer Spring Invite. They recently finished second at the Klash in Kentucky, with Maya Hunter earning GLIAC Golfer of the Week honors for her performance.

In track and field, NMU athletes participated in the Redbird Challenge hosted by Illinois State. Ahna Larson won the 400m hurdles while Baux Truckey secured second place in the 400m race. Madi Szymanski and Emma Sweeney earned podium finishes in their respective events as well.

Finally, NMU's football fans can look forward to an early preview of the upcoming season during the annual spring game scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Superior Dome.
