Northern Michigan University's volleyball player, Allie Barlow, has been recognized as the GLIAC Setter of the Week. This honor follows her outstanding performance at the Midwest Regional Crossover Tournament in Indiana.
Barlow, a sophomore from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was instrumental in leading the Wildcats to a 2-1 record over the weekend. She achieved a career-high of 52 assists during a five-set match against Findlay and contributed another 48 assists in a four-set victory over UIndy on Friday. Her efforts totaled 100 assists for that day alone. In addition to her setting achievements, Barlow accumulated 14 kills, five aces, 23 digs, and one block across three matches.
"Allie is just an incredible talent that still has so much room to keep growing," said coach Mike Lozier. "Allie entered the weekend having put together some great performances, but this weekend stands out because she did it against three of the top teams in our region. The lights got brighter and she rose to the occasion."
Currently leading conference setters with 738 assists this season—a figure placing her among the top 30 nationally—Barlow also surpassed the milestone of 1,000 career assists during these matches.
The Wildcats hold a record of 13-5 overall and are 7-1 in their conference. They will continue their GLIAC schedule on the road this weekend with matches against Grand Valley State and Wayne State.
