Northern Michigan University (NMU) athletics had a busy weekend from October 18 to October 20, with several teams competing in various sports.

On Friday, the NMU cross country team secured first place at the Bay College Invite. Notable performances included Brooke Lemos finishing fifth, Lola Korpi sixth, Ella DeBruyn eighth, and Samantha Zolnierek ninth. In women's soccer, Justina L'Esperance delivered an impressive performance with a hat-trick and an assist, leading the team to a 4-1 victory over Ferris State. However, the men's soccer team faced a narrow 0-1 defeat against Saginaw Valley.

The volleyball team emerged victorious in a five-set match against Findlay at the Midwest Crossover. Despite trailing after three sets, they managed to win 3-2. Allie Barlow achieved a personal best with 52 assists during this match. The hockey team also celebrated success with a 2-1 win over Alaska Anchorage in their home opener for the season. Head coach Dave Shyiak and his staff marked their first home victory with goals from Tanner Latsch and Medric Bolduc, while Ryan Ouellette earned his first career Wildcat win by making 31 saves.

Continuing their momentum on Saturday, NMU's volleyball team defeated UIndy 3-1 at the Midwest Crossover tournament. They recorded 61 kills as a team during this match. Unfortunately, later that day they lost to Rockhurst with McKenzie Gruner leading her team with 14 kills.

In football action on Saturday, NMU experienced an overtime loss against Roosevelt with a score of 10-16 due to a costly fumble that allowed Roosevelt to secure victory on their next possession.

The hockey team's fortunes shifted on Saturday evening when they suffered a close empty-net loss of 5-3 against Alaska Anchorage despite Aidyn Hutchinson's contribution along with Tynan Ewart and Anthony Cliche scoring their first collegiate goals each; Ryan Ouellette made notable efforts saving twenty-six shots in just one period alone—just shy of breaking NMU’s single-period record for saves.

Sunday saw mixed results as well: men's soccer ended Senior Day celebrations triumphantly defeating Davenport two-nil thanks largely due senior captain Tommaso Lami scoring twice himself alongside Nils Cedergren achieving eight saves marking it his fourth clean sheet thus far within current year whilst women’s soccer unfortunately fell short losing zero-one versus same opponent despite outshooting them fourteen-two throughout entire game duration including preventing any second-half attempts altogether; this marked Panthers’ initial win since October twentieth back in twenty
