The NMU women's golf team concluded their fall season with a 10th place finish at the DU Panther Invitational in Augusta, Michigan. The team improved by eight strokes in the second round, finishing with a total score of +78 over the weekend.
The Stonehedge North course proved slightly easier on the second day, with an average score of 81.47. The Wildcats managed to outperform this average, achieving an 80.75 across four rounds.
Maggie Pietila and Maddy Martens led the team, finishing 26th and 28th respectively. Pietila completed her round with a score of +5 (77), including three birdies, ending the weekend at +14. She began her round with a birdie on hole 12 and maintained an even score over her final 11 holes.
Martens mirrored Pietila's start on hole 12 and finished strong after being seven-over through her first seven holes. She scored +1 over her last 11 holes, concluding with a birdie on the par-3 11th for a round of +8 (80) and a total of +15 for the weekend.
Hailey Bolander and Abbie Pietila both scored +11 (83) in their rounds, finishing tied for 47th and in 49th place individually. Payton Dube and Gabriella Moreau rounded out the team’s performance with scores of +16 (88) and +17 (89), respectively.
