NMU men's golf team finishes thirteenth at Flyers Fall Intercollegiate

The NMU men's golf team concluded their participation in the Flyers Fall Intercollegiate, finishing 13th at the Cog Hill Golf & Country Club #4, known as the Dubsdread Course. The second day of the tournament presented more challenges, with an average score of 80.60 compared to 79.76 on the first day.

Head coach Ben Johnson commented on the team's performance: "It was a hard fought day for both teams today. I was proud of our teams attitude, and am looking forward to the GLIAC preview this coming weekend."

Walter Ylitalo achieved a score of +8 (80), securing 19th place individually. He started on hole 10 and managed two birdies in his opening nine holes, resulting in a back nine score of 38 and a front nine score of 42. His total of 22 pars over two days placed him tied for third in that category.

Tyler Annala finished in 33rd place with a score of +8 (80) and two birdies. Starting on hole 11, he recorded a front nine score of 37 and a back nine score of 43. Annala's birdies came consecutively on holes five and six during a stretch where he shot -2 over six holes.

Eric Yun also ended with a score of +8 (80), placing him 58th individually after improving by eight spots from round one with scores of 39 for the front nine and 41 for the back nine.

Arthur Ylitalo completed his rounds with a score of +7 (79), finishing in 73rd place after moving up by 14 spots from round one. His only birdie occurred on the par four, hole number sixteen.

Joe Luke tied for 73rd place individually with an overall score of +11 (83), posting scores of 40 for the front nine and 43 for the back nine.

Levi Pennala finished in 36th place as an individual participant, scoring +10 (82) with a birdie on the par five fifth hole.

The Wildcats are set to compete next at the Panther Invitational from October 12-13, which will take place at the course hosting the GLIAC Championships in spring.
