The NMU men's swim and dive team concluded the first day of their season-opening meet in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The team achieved four individual victories and several top-three finishes but trailed with a score of 156-84 after 26 events.
Wyatt Dickman excelled by securing podium positions in all three of his events, winning the 100 IM and 100 breaststroke, and taking second place as part of the 200 medley relay team. Jef Leroux also had a notable performance, finishing first in the 100 freestyle and second in both relay events for the Wildcats.
Alessandro Rosatelli delivered strong results in freestyle categories, winning the 500-yard event and placing third in the 200-yard event.
In Event 2, the Wildcats began with a second-place finish in the men's 200-yard medley relay. The team comprised Ian Rocheleau, Wyatt Dickman, Jef Leroux, and William LaCount completed it with a time of 1:32.93.
Javier Peña Reyes led NMU's efforts in Event 4's 1000-yard freestyle by finishing fourth with a time of 10:05.21. Gabriel Fulconi and Ale Rosatelli secured silver and bronze medals respectively in Event 6's 200-yard freestyle.
Event highlights included LaCount’s second-place finish in Event 8’s sprint event with a time of 21.30 seconds; Dickman's gold medal win in Event 10’s IM race; Tobie Stiles’ bronze medal performance on the diving board during Event 12; Daniel Khmara leading NMU swimmers to fourth place during Event14’s butterfly competition; Leroux clinching another first-place victory for NMU during Event16’s sprint race alongside Fulconi who took silver honors behind him.
