NMU athletics schedule includes golf tournament kickoff and homecoming football game

Northern Michigan University's athletic teams have a busy schedule this week, featuring multiple events across various sports. Below is the detailed lineup:

Monday, September 16

- Women's Golf: Champion's For Women's Classic (10:40 AM tee time)

Tuesday, September 17

- Women's Golf: Champion's For Women's Classic (TBD tee times)

Friday, September 20

- Cross Country: Roy Griak Invite

- Women's Soccer vs Grand Valley State - 3 PM

- Swim and Dive: Green and Gold meet - 5 PM

- Volleyball at Parkside - 7 PM

Saturday, September 21

- Swim and Dive: Green and Gold meet - 10 AM

- Football vs Alma - 1 PM (Homecoming)

- Women's Volleyball at Purdue Northwest - 3 PM

- Men's Soccer at St. Cloud State - 8 PM

Sunday, September 22

- Women's Soccer vs Davenport - 1 PM

Women's Golf:

The Women's Golf team begins their season in Columbus, Ohio, competing in the ODU Champion's for Women's Classic from September 16 to 17 at the Champions GC. In their last appearance at this event in 2021, they secured victory among 16 teams with two top-10 individual finishes.

Cross Country:

The Northern Michigan cross country team started their season at the Phoenix Open two weeks ago, finishing sixth out of ten teams. Sophomores Dani Van Lente and Emma Sweeney recorded top-25 finishes with times of 23:05.2 and 23:16.1 respectively. The team now prepares for the Roy Griak Invite on Friday.

Women's Soccer:

Last weekend, the Wildcats had a successful road trip with a win against Cedarville (3-0) and a draw against Northwood (1-1). They return to Marquette for their home opener against Grand Valley State and Davenport.

Swim and Dive:

The Wildcats open their season with the annual Green and Gold intra-squad and alumni meet at the PEIF Pool on Friday and Saturday.

Volleyball:

The Wildcats went 1-2 last weekend, including a win over no.7 St. Cloud State. With only one home game so far this season out of seven matches, they will be on the road again this weekend facing Parkside and Purdue Northwest.

Football:

It's Homecoming week for NMU football as they return to Marquette to play against Alma on Saturday at 1 PM.

Men's Soccer:

The Wildcats continued their strong start to the season with a record of 3-0-1 after going undefeated over the weekend. They aim to maintain this streak in their sole match this weekend before returning to Marquette for four consecutive home games.
