Tyler Annala places second at UPGA Championship

NMU golfer Tyler Annala competed in the 110th Upper Peninsula Golf Association (UPGA) Championship, finishing as the runner-up in the top flight.

Golfers played four rounds over four days at the Wawonowin Country Club. Annala shot rounds of 71, 69, 74, and 72 for a four-day total of 286 (-2). NMU alum Mark Clements won for the second consecutive year, shooting a 275 (-13), and Chris Rhoades took third with a 290 (+2).

Joe Luke also competed, shooting rounds of 81, 77, 76, and 78 for a four-day total of 312 in the second flight. Recent NMU golfers Chris Black (296, fifth in the Championship flight) and Carter Mason (303, first in the first flight) also made strong showings at the championship.
