Northern Michigan University (NMU) has announced the promotion of Ben Johnson to Associate Head Golf Coach. The announcement was made by NMU golf head coach Eric Johnson on Tuesday.
"Ben is a phenomenal coach that has done great things to grow the program in a short time," said Eric Johnson. "This is very well deserved."
Ben Johnson is entering his second season with the Wildcats after being appointed as assistant coach last August. Primarily working with the women's team, he oversaw significant achievements including the team's fifth tournament win in program history and two second-place finishes. Additionally, he guided Maya Hunter to a T19 finish in this year's NCAA Tournament.
"I am honored and excited for this opportunity," said Ben Johnson upon his promotion. "I'm looking forward to getting this season started!"
A graduate of Northern Michigan University and a four-year member of its golf team, Ben Johnson also serves as the general manager for the NMU golf course. His coaching experience extends to high school varsity level with Marquette Senior High School's golf team, along with roles in MSHS JV hockey and various Marquette Junior Hockey programs.
