State Rep. Jaime Greene (R-Lansing) has proposed a bill to promote fairness in sports by aligning all sports-related activities with the biological sex of each participant.

According to a press release, Greene introduced the Female Athletics Integrity of Records (FAIR) Act, a bill that seeks to uphold fairness in sports by aligning all aspects of sports with the biological sex of each participant. The legislation would guarantee that athletes in Michigan would not have to compete against transgender individuals.

"Women worked hard for decades to put Title IX protections in place so they could have equal opportunities to compete. Allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports undermines our progress as a society and reduces women to second-class status. Girls and women in Michigan deserve to have equal opportunities to showcase their talent and compete fairly, and I want to make sure we don’t sideline our girls," Greene said about the bill.

The Female Athletics Integrity of Records Act would encompass individual sports programs that receive at least partial public funding. It mandates that all sports must establish distinct programs for males and females, ensuring that participants compete on teams corresponding to their biological sex. Additionally, the act necessitates that athletes are awarded and ranked based on their biological sex, according to HB 4546.

As per the legislation, the bill defines biological sex as "the innate, objective biological condition of being female or male, determined at the conception of the human being." Apart from Greene, the bill has support from other Republicans in the Michigan legislature.

"It's interesting because for the past 100 years, my grandmother, my mother, all my aunts, have worked so hard and fought for those protections, marched in those marches, that liberal rights movement of those liberal women's movement, they fought so hard for that and we are watching it erode before our eyes right now," said Rep. Jaime Green on the Steve Gruber Show.
