Multiple vehicles damaged in random acts of violence

City of Battle Creek issued the following announcement on Mar 31.

Late last night, March 30, dispatch received three separate calls from people in the Verona area who had fallen victim to malicious destruction of property to their vehicles. 

Around 12:30 p.m. today, March 31, dispatch received several more calls of vehicles being shot at in the Lakeview Square Mall parking lot. Witnesses expressed seeing a vehicle driving around in the parking lot with a passenger pointing a gun out the window. 

Battle Creek officers were given a description of the suspect vehicle and dispatched to the area. 

Upon arrival, they were able to locate the suspect vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted in the parking lot of Arby’s. 

The driver was in possession of a BB gun pistol and two additional BB guns were located inside the vehicle. 

Two juveniles and one adult male were brought into custody and transported to the Battle Creek Police Department. 

A total of 11 vehicles were damaged by these individuals. 

The adult was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on unrelated charges, and the juveniles were released to their parents. Charges are pending for all three subjects.
