University of Michigan Wolverine football fans will hear a new duo on the radio broadcast this fall. The athletic department and Learfield reported that Doug Karsch and Jon Jansen will announce the team’s games.

Karsch and Jansen will replace the recently retired Jim Brandstatter and Dan Dierdorf, who called games for eight seasons on the Michigan Sports Network, according to MGoBlue.com.

"Doug and Jon are a great team and will bring their passion for Michigan football into the modern era of radio broadcasts," Kelsey Harmon Finn, vice president and general manager for Michigan Sports Properties, said. "While Dan and Jim leave big shoes to fill, we are confident that Doug and Jon will deliver to fans an informed and entertaining broadcast about today's team while still honoring the program's traditions and history. We are excited about the season ahead."

Karsch has been a part of Michigan football radio broadcasts for 16 seasons, as a sideline reporter and hosting a pre-game tailgate show beside Jansen, according to the athletic department. He started covering the team as sports director at WTKA Radio (1050 AM) in 1994.

For the past eight years, Jansen has been part of Michigan football radio broadcasts. He also hosts the Inside Michigan Football Radio Show on Mondays during the season, along with two athletic podcasts, In the Trenches and Conquering Heroes, MGoBlue.com said.

"A great partnership has been formed between Doug and Jon, and we look forward to that continuing as our football radio broadcast team moving forward," Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd director of athletics, said. "We have the No. 1 rated pre-game radio show for a reason; it's the chemistry, passion, and knowledge that Doug and Jon bring to their work.”

Manuel added that the duo has a long history with the football program that will bring authenticity to the broadcast and entertain fans who tune in.

The athletic department reported that they will announce a new sideline reporter at a later date.
