CITY OF COLDWATER: Seeks to Hire Community Development Fellow

H

City of Coldwater issued the following announcement on July 6.

The City of Coldwater seeks applicants for the CEDAM Community Development Fellowship. This 15-month paid position will help expand organizational capacity and take on various development projects in the City. The fellow will work full-time beginning in October 2021. The deadline to apply is July 26, 2021.

The City of Coldwater was one of 10 Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) selected by the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) to host fellows for 2021-22. The fellow will be responsible for various projects that aid in community economic development to promote equity and improve the quality of life for those who live or work in Coldwater. Some potential projects include preparing an application for the next USDA Rural Development Housing Preservation grant cycle, creating a framework for reviewing development projects, developing a boards and commissions member recruitment and information guide, and assisting the DDA with a Strategic Plan update.

“The CEDAM Fellowship is a great opportunity for individuals to gain professional experience in the community development sector and for host communities to take on additional projects,” says Rachel Diskin, Director of Capacity Building at CEDAM. “Through this program, we can help Michigan expand the range of what’s possible and, at the end of the day, address critical needs to make their community stronger.”

In addition to salary and benefits, the Community Development Fellowship also offers training, professional development, and networking opportunities for fellows. As a result, many CEDAM fellows continue their work in government, policy, and the nonprofit industry. As a growing community, the City of Coldwater welcomes applicants for the CEDAM Community Development Fellowship and looks forward to collaborating on projects that improve the lives of its citizens.
