A public hearing will be held by City Council to receive public comments on the following:

Zoning Text Amendment | Removal of the Supportive Housing Categorizing Language
City Council will consider a proposed ordinance 1) to remove “Supportive Housing” referencing text from the Zoning Ordinance – Article II, Section 122-203 Supportive Housing Definition; 2) from Article V Division 1, Section 122-557 Supportive Housing Conditions; and 3) from Permissible Uses tables for zoning districts CN, MD and HHS. The amended zoning treats supportive housing the same as other residential dwellings. 

Zoning Text Amendment | Make Roominghouses Permissible as a Special Use in the HC District
City Council will consider a proposed ordinance to add roominghouses as a special use in the Historic Corridor under Section 122-451. Specific regulations will be as follows –

1. The owner of the property must either reside on the premises or provide the name and contact information of resident manager to Building Department, and keep such information up-to-date.
2. Rooms used for sleeping must have a minimum of 100 square feet for two occupants, plus an additional 50 square feet for each additional occupant.
3. A minimum of 450 square feet of living space must be reserved for the owner/operator’s or resident manager’s quarters.

The City invites all interested persons to attend this meeting or to send written comments to the City of Ypsilanti, Community & Economic Development Department, One South Huron Street, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197.   The City of Ypsilanti will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired, Limited English Proficiency (LEP) services, and audios of printed materials being considered at the meeting.  Individuals requiring auxiliary aids or services should provide two (2) days’ notice to the City, and contact the City by writing the City Clerk’s Office, One South Huron Street, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197; or by calling the Clerk’s Office at (734) 483-1100.
