Walgreens is a national pharmacy and health retail chain with nearly 8,000 stores operating in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Walgreens sells beauty and personal care items as well as vitamins, supplements, home health care solutions, household goods and over-the-counter medicines in addition to prescription pharmaceuticals. Walgreens was founded in 1901 by Charles Walgreen Sr., a native of Dixon. Today Walgreens has more than 600 locations in Illinois.
