The Michigan Department of State announced on May 4 that it received 2,095 submissions for its “I Voted” sticker design contest, marking a fourfold increase from the previous contest held during the 2024 presidential election year.
The growth in participation highlights increased community engagement with the state’s democratic process. The contest aims to encourage civic involvement by inviting residents to contribute creative designs for stickers distributed at polling places.
Deputy Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie said, “Thank you to the more than 2,000 Michigan artists who showcased their creativity in record numbers for this year’s ‘I Voted’ sticker design contest. This is an incredible milestone that shows all Michiganders can come together to support our state’s democracy. Now, let’s build on that excitement this election year by voting and making our voices heard.”
Entries were accepted in three categories: elementary/middle school (grades K-8), high school (grades 9-12), and a general entry open to all Michigan residents. The Michigan Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force will select 75 semifinalists—25 from each category—before public voting opens on June 1. Winners will be announced later in the summer and will receive special recognition from the department. Their designs will be provided to local election clerks for use during the November 2026 Election.
