Kent County Sheriff’s Office reports fatal crash in Tyrone Township on May 3

A 91-year-old man from Tyrone Township died in a single-vehicle crash, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office on May 3. The incident occurred at the intersection of Tyrone Avenue Northwest and 18 Mile Road Northwest at approximately 12:40 p.m.

Authorities said the driver was traveling northbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a transmission tower. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office stated that an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. At this time, officials do not suspect reckless driving or alcohol as contributing factors.

Sgt. Scott Dietrich, Public Information Officer for the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, provided contact information for further inquiries but did not release additional details about what may have led to the vehicle leaving the road.

The investigation remains open as authorities work to determine more information about how and why this fatal accident occurred.
