Hidden Lake Gardens announced on Apr. 29 that it will host the Summer Stroll, an event designed for caregivers and family members supporting loved ones living with dementia. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hidden Lake Gardens.

The Summer Stroll aims to provide a supportive environment where attendees can connect with others facing similar experiences and access resources focused on caregiving and dementia support. Organizers say the afternoon will include opportunities to stroll through the gardens, enjoy live music, participate in creative activities, and gather helpful information from local partners.

The event is presented in partnership with Dementia Friendly Services, the Lenawee County Department on Aging, and the Alzheimer’s Association. The program includes presentations such as “Communication Throughout the Dementia Journey” at 1:30 p.m., “Being in Nature: Health Benefits” at 2:30 p.m., and a group stroll around Hidden Lake at 3:15 p.m.

Nature-based craft activities will be available throughout the afternoon in the Visitors Center Garden Room. Attendees will also have opportunities to ask questions and learn more about local resources supporting those affected by dementia.

Pre-registration is encouraged but not required for this community gathering intended for anyone caring for or supporting someone living with dementia.
