The State Bar of Michigan announced on May 5 that only one week remains for members to secure discounted room rates at the Grand Hotel and save $50 on registration for the Great Lakes Legal Conference.

The deadline to take advantage of these offers is May 12. The conference, which will be held June 12-13, is open to all State Bar of Michigan members. Organizers say it provides an opportunity to connect with legal experts from across Michigan, build professional relationships, and learn from industry leaders.

This year’s keynote speaker is Michael J. Steinberg, a civil rights lawyer and law professor known for his storytelling on NPR’s “The Moth Radio Hour.” The event features four learning tracks: Leadership, Legal Updates, Litigation, and Practice Management & Technology. Sessions include topics such as trial tactics for juries, board governance tools, and driver’s license restoration in Michigan. Attendees can choose sessions across different tracks to customize their experience.

Participants will also hear from Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Megan Cavanagh, State Bar President Lisa J. Hamameh, and Executive Director Peter Cunningham. Opportunities are available for one-on-one meetings with Molly Ranns, director of the Lawyer and Judges Assistance Program, as well as Marjory Raymer, director of communications.

The Michigan Bar Association promotes diversity and public legal education while enhancing justice administration through its programs according to the official website. It operates under the authority of the Michigan Supreme Court with administrative offices in Lansing and recognizes key legal events through its Legal Milestones program.
