FOIA Request Sent to Wayne County Regarding Absentee Ballots Information for 2024 General Election on September 25, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Wayne County, Michigan on September 25, 2024 by us at Great Lakes Wire. The request seeks comprehensive information regarding absentee ballots for the upcoming November 5, 2024 General Election.

In our quest to provide accurate and comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have requested detailed records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. We have asked for these records in an electronic format for ease of access and review.

The requested information includes specifics about the ballots mailed out for absentee voting, early voting, overseas voting, military voting and any other categories that were sent out to voters. The fields we are interested in include Voter ID, Registration Date, DoB/Age, Full Name (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name), Name Suffix, Registration Status and Reason for Status.

Further details sought include the voter’s County and Precinct of registration as well as their Address details (City and State). Contact information such as Phone number and Email Address are also part of the request.

In addition to this personal information about each voter, we have also requested data pertaining to Party Affiliation and Absentee Status. Specifics related to each ballot such as Ballot ID, Election Date for ballots sent out, Request Type (Absentee, Mail-In etc.), Ballot Request Date, Ballot Send date and Return date along with Ballot status (Accepted or Rejected) are also part of our FOIA request.
