FOIA Request to Newaygo County Regarding Vendor Payments from January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at Great Lakes Wire have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Newaygo County. The request was sent on September 26, 2024.

In the request, we asked for a comprehensive list of all payments made to vendors within the specified period. The requested information includes vendor names, transaction dates, descriptions of transactions, and amounts paid.

Our commitment as a media organization is to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. Access to public records such as these is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.
