FOIA Request Sent to Macomb County Regarding Absentee Ballots Information for 2024 General Election on September 25, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Macomb County, Michigan, by us at Great Lakes Wire on September 25, 2024. The request pertains to comprehensive data on absentee ballots for the upcoming General Election scheduled for November 5, 2024.

We are seeking detailed information on all types of ballots mailed out including absentee, early voting, overseas, military and others. The requested fields include Voter ID, Registration Date, Age/Date of Birth, Full Name (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name and any Suffix), Registration Status and Reason, County and Precinct of registration.

In addition to these details, we have also asked for the voter’s Address (including City and State), Phone number and Email Address. Other important information requested includes Party Affiliation, Absentee Status and Ballot ID.

The request also covers specifics about the ballot such as the Election Date for which the ballot was sent out, Request Type (Absentee, Mail-In, Early Voting etc.), Ballot Request Date, Ballot Send Date and Return Date. We have also sought information on the status of each ballot whether it has been accepted or rejected.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs in Michigan state area specifically in Macomb county region. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
