FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments in 2024 on September 26, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County, Illinois, regarding vendor payments for the year 2024. The request was made on September 26, 2024.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs at DeKalb Times, we requested records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. Specifically, we asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024 till September 26, 2024.

The fields we requested in the vendor payment records include the Vendor Name, Transaction Date, Transaction Description, and Amount. We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we have also requested a fee waiver for this information request. We are awaiting a response from Dekalb County officials regarding this matter.
