The Ferris State University softball team completed a sweep over Davenport University with two wins on May 2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, according to a May 3 announcement. The games were played on the road in Caledonia.
The results are significant as they mark the Bulldogs’ last away games of the regular season before returning home for their final matchups. Ferris State took game one by an 8-6 score and secured a 12-2 victory in game two.
In the first game, Ferris State came back from a deficit, tying the score with runs in the fourth and fifth innings before adding four runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh. Both teams recorded ten hits each. Alexis Kozlowski led with three hits and three runs batted in, while Ava Gardner contributed two RBIs. Jadyn Joseph had two hits, and both Kozlowski and Gardner hit home runs. Cecelia Bell pitched over five innings before Katie Shuboy finished out for the win.
During game two, Ferris State scored multiple runs across several innings to end with an eight-hit performance against four from Davenport. Kozlowski again drove in three runs on two hits; Gardner added four RBIs on two hits as well. Emma Gillard hit a home run, while Marlatt and Molly Versluis also contributed RBIs. Shuboy pitched all five innings for Ferris State.
The Bulldogs women’s softball program participates in both conference and non-conference games during its season according to its official website. Ferris State will conclude its regular season at home against Purdue Northwest on May 3.
