The City of Jackson announced on Aug. 11 the opening of the City Center Kitchen and Event Space at 145 W. Cortland St. The new facility is intended to support local entrepreneurs, provide a venue for events, and contribute to downtown revitalization efforts.

According to the announcement, the City Center is designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind, offering modern amenities within a historic setting. The goal is to create opportunities for business growth, foster connections among residents, and provide a space for community gatherings.

The facility features the City Center Kitchen, which offers a licensed commercial kitchen available for chefs, bakers, caterers, and other food-based entrepreneurs who want to start or expand their businesses. The shared-use kitchen includes commercial-grade equipment and smallwares such as pots, pans, bakeware, prep tables as well as dry storage, refrigeration space, freezer space. It also provides access to ServSafe certification and business licensing support. The city said these resources are aimed at removing barriers for local food businesses so they can grow safely and sustainably.

In addition to the kitchen facilities, the City Center Event Space offers updated historic rooms that can be used for weddings, business meetings, luncheons or community gatherings. Available spaces include an elegant ballroom along with flexible multi-purpose rooms that combine historic character with modern functionality.
