City Clerk’s Office closed Wednesday, Dec. 7

The City Clerk’s Office will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 7 so the team can participate in a ballot recount from the Nov. 8 general election.

A recount request was filed with the State of Michigan for Proposal 2 and Proposal 3, requiring a variety of communities across the state to recount ballots from a variety of precincts. Michigan voters approved both ballot measures; Proposal 2 involves voting and ballot drop boxes, and Proposal 3 involves reproductive rights.

The City of Battle Creek must hand-count ballots from precincts 3 and 6. They will do this in Jackson County.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this office closure, and our City Clerk team is dedicated to the highest accuracy and professionalism around election procedures.
